Assistant Chief Bryan Hastings
Transcript of Chief Hastings’ testimony during trial (June 2021)
The City of Seattle filed a motion before trial that all witnesses were banned from listening to or watching any portion of the trial before they testified. However, Chief Hastings received the Zoom link from the City Attorney, changed his Zoom display name to “Seattle”, and watched the opening statements and tried to watch the testimony of the plaintiff’s expert witness (the former Fire Marshall for the state of California). During the expert’s testimony, Chief Hastings was caught by the Judge and kicked out. See pages 98-99.
Chief Hastings said that the Seattle Fire Department doesn’t use the term “vacant” in fire operations. See pages 103-110.
Chief Hastings couldn’t define what a best practice is. See pages 130-133.
